The gps watch allows you to follow your training and analyze your sessions in order to improve your performance.
The gps watch now provides a lot of information to measure its effort: it records the route, the distance, the speed and sometimes the altitude. The gps running watch most often contains a heart rate monitor to track your heart rate, with or without a belt because there are now cardio optical sensors. The running watch can also provide the calculation of calories consumed during training, recovery time and measure VO2 Max.
Basically black and white, the screen of a gps watch also exists in color. The screens have good resolution and can be tactile.

For the ultra trail the gps running watch is equipped with a battery that lasts 20 hours minimum. By opting for a lower accuracy of one point every 60 seconds instead of one point per second for the display of the route, the battery can last up to 50h, even 200h depending on the model.
Adapted to all practices, multisport gps watches are used for running, swimming, cycling (display of speed in km instead of mn per km), skiing, golf, rowing machine.
For the triathlon, there are gps watches that measure the time on each discipline and during the transitions, they are waterproof with a GPS track in open water for the most advanced. They can also give the number of lengths for swimmers.
